I thought that the next post I put on here would be of my ever expanding belly, but little Sydney decided she was ready to come see us early. It has been such a wonderful experience already to have her here finally! The day that she came I got up at 8:00am thinking it was going to be just another day. Then my water broke and I was shocked. I called mom first to make sure that was what had happened. When I was sure I called Tim at work to let him know. He was training so his instructor answered the phone. When I told him I was trying to get a hold of Tim Haskell he said, "He's kind of busy right now, can he call you back?" My reply was, "Ummmm, sure, this is his wife and my water just broke." His reaction was pretty funny, "Your water just broke?" In the mean time when Tim heard that he started heading for the door right away, not even waiting to talk to me so the instructor had to tell him I was on the phone still.
When we got to the hospital they put the monitors on me and it didn't take long for them to see that when I would have contractions Sydney's heart rate would drop. For a while it would go right back up again, but one time it stayed down at 60 beats per minute for about 4 minutes. That was when they decided that she just wasn't doing well with labor so they were going to do a c-section before they had to do an emergency one. She was born at 3:23pm weighing 5 lbs. and was 17 1/2 inches long. They found out that the reason she had so much trouble was because the cord was wrapped around her neck two times and was pretty tight. Needless to say, Tim and I are so thankful that she is here safe and sound.
I think that she looks like tim...but MUCH cuter =)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for posting "the story"! Fun to read! So similar to our first, Annie (even the weight and length!).We didn't have to do the c-section and she wasn't distressed, but the early arrival and all that goes with that. I love the pictures and getting to "see" you ALL!
